The "Celebration of Catamount Baseball" on Jan. 18 was a success

Utility player who spent the majority of his sophomore season at third base, but will see playing time both in the outfield and behind the plate this season ... Has impressed Major League Baseball scouts with his raw power and ability to "square the ball" ... Named to the 2007 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All-American second team ... Also dubbed preseason second team All-SoCon by ... Named preseason first team All-Southern Conference by the league's head coaches at third base.

2006: Hit .338 on the season with 13 doubles and ranked second in the Southern Conference in home runs (14) and ninth in RBI (54) ... Closed his sophomore season with perhaps the best monthly performance in the nation ... In May, he hit .476 (30-for-63) with 12 extra base hits including a team-best seven home runs, raising his average from just under .300 to .338 ... Added 14 runs scored in 15 games with a team-best 20 RBI ... Named 2006 First Team All-SoCon at third base, committing just one error in 46 chances ... Was tabbed the SoCon Player of the Week and was named one of Collegiate Baseball / Louisville Slugger's Natioanl Players of the Week after recording at least three hits in each game, including at least one home run in each contest during the week.

2005: Ended the season with a .316 batting average, good for third-best on the team ... Ranked as high as seventh in the SoCon and 42nd in the NCAA with his .412 batting average through April 10 ... However, was only 7-for-his-next-47 (.149), dropping his average to .317 on the year ... Snapped an 0-for-17 string by going 2-for-3 with three runs scored in WCU's win over Georgia Southern ... Ended the season by getting a hit in 12 of his last 15 games, going 16-for-55 with four doubles and nine runs scored ... Batted .429 one week in games versus UNC Asheville and East Tennessee State, scoring four times and driving in seven ... Had a 10-game hitting streak, batting .500 (19-for-38) over the span ... Entered the starting lineup on a regular basis for the App State series, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in game one ... In a seven-inning win over Brown, went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored ... Hit two home runs and went 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored in the second game at Davidson ... In the Davidson finale, went 2-for-5 and had a two-run single, which proved to be the game winner ... In the ETSU finale, went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored ... In WCU's lone win over Georgia Southern, went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored ... In the second Wofford game, went 3-for-4 with two runs scored ... Went 1-for-4, driving in one and scoring what proved to be the winning run in WCU's victory over The Citadel in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament ... Was 2-for-4 and scored one of WCU's two runs in a loss to Georgia Southern in the SoCon Tournament.

PRIOR TO WESTERN: Was named All-Northwestern 4-A Conference as both a catcher and pitcher at Watauga HS ... As a senior, had a .561 batting average with 11 home runs, 38 RBI and 19 doubles ... Led the Pioneers in rushing and tackles as a senior, helping his football team reach the state playoffs twice ... Was co-recipient of the Trailblazer Award, which goes to his school's top male athlete.
