WCU leads 10-team field by four strokes entering final round

Through two years and 47 rounds, sits atop the WCU career list for scoring average (72.36), three stokes better than second on the list.

2006-2007 (Jr.): Continued his dominance on the course, winning three events during the fall portion of the schedule...Named to Golf World Magazine's mid-season All-American team...Also tabbed "Most Surprising Player" in the nation by the publication...Was a member of the All-Southern Conference team at the conclusion of the season for the second straight year...Two-time winner of the Southern Conference Men's Golfer of the Month award, sweeping the first two months of the season, after winning three straight tournaments in September and October... During this run, won the Elon/Sea Trail Intercollegiate Tournament on Sept. 23, prevailing on the third playoff hole...Continued his winning ways at the Liberty/Frank Landry Invitational and the Charleston Southern Fall Invitational...In Charleston, set a WCU 54-hole record with a score of 206...Placed in the top ten in all five of Western's fall events...At the Southern Conference Championship, carded a final round 70 to finish in a tie for fourth, helping lead Western to a sixth place team finish...Qualified for the NCAA East Regional ...After the season, ranks first, third, and fourth on the WCU single-season scoring average list and first on the career stroke average list...During the season, set the top two all-time 36-hole scoring marks...Set five of the top 12 individual 18-hole scores during the season, including the second-best all time score when he shot a 65 at the Liberty/Frank Landrey Invitational.

2005-06 (So): Named Southern Conference Golfer of the Year and first team All-Southern Conference ... Was one of six golfers to receive an individual, at-large selection to the NCAA East Regional Men's Golf Championships ... Shot 237 at the NCAA East Regional to place 123rd ... Led the SoCon in scoring average through the SoCon Championship ... After the NCAA Regional, scoring average finished at 72.22, which additionally broke his own WCU single-season scoring average ... Carded a 69 on the final day and posted a 54-hole score of five-under par 211 to become the 2006 Southern Conference men's golf individual champion, becoming just the second Catamount to accomplish the feat ... Also, by winning the 2006 SoCon title, he was named to the All-Tournament team ... In being named SoCon Golfer of the Year, Cook, who placed among the top five in all five WCU spring events, led the league and shattered the WCU single-season scoring, averaging 71.52 strokes per round. In 10 regular-season events, he ranked among the individual top 10 eight times, including seven top five finishes ... Also on the season, he won three events and had two runner-up finishes ... Was a two-time SoCon Men's Golfer of the Month as well as its SoCon Men's Golfer of the Week on two occasions.

2004-05 (Fr.): Did not enroll at Western until January 2005 ... Made an immediate impact by making Second Team All-Southern Conference ... Ranked fourth in the SoCon in scoring average entering the championships with a stroke average of 72.5 and became Western's first men's golfer to earn All-SoCon honors since Jamie Whitley accomplished the feat in 1995 ... Shattered the WCU single-season record by posting a 72.67 scoring average through 15 rounds (the previous record being 74.23) ... At the SoCon Championship, carded a four-over 220, tying for fifth, to become the seventh Catamount to post a top five finish at the championships ... His 220 was the fifth-best score by a Catamount in the championships all-time ... Only played in six events, but had four top five finishes including medalist honors at Tusculum Invitational and Winthrop/Waterford Invitational (lost in a playoff) ... Fired a season-best 69 at Tusculum.

Prior to Western: At Murphy High School, was a four-time Smoky Mountain Conference Player of the Year, in addition to earning all-conference honors each of those seasons ... four-time SMC tournament medalist ... was a three-time regional champion and won the North Carolina State Championship as a junior ... Twice placed third in the state, as a sophomore and senior ... He was a member of the World Junior Golf Cup Team and was selected as a AJGA All-American.
