Thirty-Five Student-Athletes Participate in Spring Commencement

Nine Catamounts graduate with honors; four summa cum laude

'Former Catamount softball standout Taylor Sigmon was an assistant coach for Western Carolina softball in the 2018 season. She graduated with her Master's Degree in May 2018.

Sigmon is a former four-year softball standout for Western Carolina University. Sigmon was a decorated infielder and pitcher for WCU and was also the first player in Western Carolina softball history to be named second-team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She was also a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team selection.

She holds the Catamount school record for RBI ending her career with 106 and also holds the record for saves with 20. She also ranks second in the record books for starts with 218. Sigmon also tossed the first perfect game in Catamount softball history on April 13 against North Carolina A&T.

Sigmon is currently in graduate school at Western Carolina pursuing a master's degree in Communications Sciences and Disorders.
